Dawnvip's Beginner Big Year

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I joined ST late 2017 to get some help with planning our upcoming safari. Little did I know there was so much more to this forum, that I find myself somewhat addicted to viewing so many amazing photos! Eventually I made my way to the Big Year section and thought to myself - sure I am game.

So here goes...

Nice start and welcome , the BY does become a bit of an obsession but it get's you out more too! Are you going to keep a count?

I will try to keep count, especially since there will hopefully be some firsts for me during the safari!

@Dawnvip, welcome,  as @Dave Williams has warned you, "obsession" is a risk here. Looking forward to seeing some lovely Canadian birds too.

Hi there! Were these taken at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary near Ladner? That place is special for the birds!

Yes, it was at Reifel in Ladner (except for the hummingbird)! How did you know?

I live about 15 min away and love it.

Thanks for all the welcoming words and encouragement!

I started just wanting to practice with the new camera before our big trip in June, but now I'm hooked on this big year. Hubby is the birder of the family so I will pre-emptively blame him for any misidentifications!!

This weekend's capture are as follows:

5) Canada Goose
