“Let’s go to LRK, it will be fun” said Raghu
“Sure, I love the place” I replied

And that is how we decided to visit Orissa. A place that I was dying to visit for a long time. This was probably the first time for me to use boats as primary mode of visiting a park too. Was it fun? You bet. Here is a short writeup (trip report) of this visit:

Fabulous Kingfishers! Having just been in Australia, and seen what used to be lumped with "Collared Kingfisher" there, I can see how different it is from India's Collared Kingfisher. (The name there has now been changed to Torresian Kingfisher.)

Thank @janzin. To my untrained eyes the Collared Kingfisher found in Arabian countries is also different than what we have in India. A quick check on Wiki shows that it's a different sub species. Looking at Torresian KF images show how it could have been considered a sub species as well.

Thank you @TonyQ and @michael-ibk.

@TonyQ: I am glad that you found some interesting reads on the blog. I am lucky that I am able to visit different parts of India and see the diverse wildlife. This is my way of sharing the same with others.
