Botswana & Namibia - a 27 day self-drive safari trip report

We spend 27 days self-driving through Namibia and Botswana. We drove about 6,500 kilometres, mostly on gravel and sand, and camped at 16 different campsites. We hired a car from Advanced Car Hire in Windhoek and returned the car on the same 4 tires and with the same windows as when we picked it up.

The complete report starts HERE.

The Botswana part of the report starts on THIS PAGE.

I travelled with Dio, my 17 year old son, and Stan, one of my best friends from university, a loooong time ago.

Our most unexpected sighting..? This Black Mamba of about 5 meter long, who raised his head a meter above the ground and looked straight into Stan's face, with less than 2 meter in between... Read more about this encounter in the report!

That black mamba in a tree is an enticing intro shot and what a close encounter.  All part of the self-drive adventure!
