Well done on reaching 200, and with a stunning bird

(it would be good to hear more about Frasers Hill at some stage)

@TonyQ Will return to Fraser's Hill once I'm finished with the Bots list, but sadly, not that many on the hill this trip.

203/BW86: Crimson-breasted Shrike, CKGR

we saw a couple of these. I was too slow the first time, and I was chasing this shrike at the morning tea in the wooded area. The best shot was just this: better than an EBC, but not a good shot.

Also known as the crimson-breasted Gonolek, the shrike is distributed in southern Africa.

205/.BW88: Long-tailed (Magpie) Shrike, CKGR

There was a pair of them but getting shots of these black beauties in the shade of a dense tree isn't the best condition. Thank goodness they stood still for a little while.

Known as the long-tailed shrike or the Magpie shrike, it is native to eastern and southeastern Africa where it prefers savannah and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.

another migratory bird to africa from northern Europe. A rather pretty shrike, I thought.

Congratulations on #200, and what a spectacular bird to pass c that milestone. Beautiful! Great additions from Botswana as well, really enjoy seeing these. Cool you got some Nightjars, and well done with the Mousebird and CB-shrike, both not easy species to get a photo of.

a rather bland sparrow, but there were lots of them flying in and out at the Nxai Pans gatehouse.

Envious of the Secretary Bird, do hope I get a chance to see one when I'm in SA.

Why wait? I have a bottle in the cooler right now!

Or I did when I took the photo for you. Then Lady G got her big blue eyes on it.

But I have more.:D
