Rare wildlife experience, ground hornbill chases and eats a turtle violently.

After an enjoyable day enjoying wildlife encounters in Kruger NP we were surprised while driving back to Satara rest camp with hornbills who were hunting a turtle which they then ate in a slightly gruesome but also creative way.

For us, this is the first time we have seen happening, not sure if you have seen it before? If yes, please share your thoughts.

Yes, it is a bit gruesome, as you say, especially when it starts pulling out really large bits!

In the Kafue last September, we saw a Serrated Hinge Terrapin shell that had obviously been attacked and our guide said the predator had been a Southern Ground Hornbill.
