Kabini Weekends 2024

Dear All,

 

Here's a few Edited images from the long holiday weekend here in Southern India for Pongal ........ 

 

I will back in Kabini for a couple more weekends over the next few months - will update in this thread.  I was initially skeptical as we've had a lot of rains in Southern India - but, the Tigers came out in all their glory which only sets the tone for the rest of the dry season for the next 4 months.

 

FYI - that's a Yellow footed Green Pigeon (common, but, pretty bird )

Update - I got a text from Sujith in kaav a couple days ago; apparently "blackie" the black leopard was seen by a forest guard/ranger while he was on patrol inside the core forest.  So, he's still alive although not seen in the safari areas in quite some time.  Good news indeed!!

@madaboutcheetahThank you! Yes, first time India. No Kabini, but Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, and Jim Corbett, plus palaces and temples in between National Parks. Can’t wait to see a tiger or two…

I've been quite busy for the last couple of months ...... Here's catching up with the editing!!

 

Although right now we are in the middle of the monsoons ..... Here's how my summer sightings went (anyway, whenever I did take photographs ..... a lot of times I didn't  ) 

 

The star of the summer was a female Tigress (Maggie and her now grown Cubs ) ......  One of them is super super shy still - but, the other one (male) does show his face every now (esp when it's not too crowded)  and then as seen in some of the images. 

 

While I did see a couple of shy Leopards this summer, this one was the only one photogenic.......
