Thought you bird watchers would like to know that the Hoopoe has just arrived here in the South of France for its summer holiday. It doesnt normally stay more than about 3 months or so, but it is great to hear it. Memories of Kenya.

You lucky things. We have a new addition to our garden birds, yellow rumped thornbill, not as exciting as a hoopoe. Isn't that Atravelynn's favourite?

Twaffle, I am impressed you remember. It is my favorite bird because it was the first "cool" bird I saw in Africa and I am fond of earthtones.

I may have to jet over to France.

Ou est le hoopoe?

Sorry he is too far away I know but its the best I can do for now. Photographed in Bize Minervois, France from our terrace. Anytime you want to come over Lynn the French equivalent of a Tusker will be waiting for you! and GW as well of course :)
