This Male Impala was so keen looking at a young male lion some few meters away.

Did he survive their meeting?

Yah, he did. He was very keen to see what the lions were up to. I passed the same place in the morning and I found the Impalas there but the lions had gone.

Meet the Impalas

Photographed at 6:15 pm on 2 May, 2015 in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, using an EOS 1D X camera and an EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super-telephoto lens.

ISO 6400, 1/400 sec., f/13, 400mm focal length, handheld Manual exposure.

When I saw these impala, I asked Anthony to stop. There was a certain classic quality to the male standing to one side, the females spread out beside him in their version of a harem.

Such a paradox — each fully an individual yet reacting to potential threats as members of a group. Watching them watching us was a calming experience.

Great images folks!

The impala in the Mara are definitely more "horny" than others eh ;)

I always like to capture any animal in moody light.

This impala chose to step into the frame as I was photographing the light through the trees in Mana Pools...

I nicknamed this male impala "Lucky" due to his battle scars.

Happy Monday

It was very windy in the Kruger this morning. It was possibly this that excited the impalas.

Wind definitely makes Impala more nervous.

I suspect it's because they can't hear/isolate sounds as well.
