Photographed at 7:36 am on 29 April, 2014 at Samburu Sopa Lodge, Kenya, with an EOS 1D X camera and an EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super-telephoto lens.

This Xerus rutilus, Unstriped Ground Squirrel, entertained me one morning while waiting for a game drive to commence.



It groomed, lay down, looked around and scratched, yet showed no overt anxiety about the large lens pointed towards it.
