By the way the mother cheetah in the photo is Kike (of Big Cat Diary fame). She is the second generation of cheetah to start jumping on vehicles, after being taught by her mother, Amber, in 1999. When we were there in 2003, she was teaching her cubs to do the same. It is thought that Amber was the first to learn this behaviour, without being taught, and it was then passed on to subsequent generations.

You can't have a "babies" thread without piglets! I'm sure there are many piglet photos sitting on hard drives.....

Panthera Pardus

On the 23 November 2012 we were driving back to Urikaruus Camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It was 6.15 pm and in November you have to be back in camp by 7.30pm. We thought we will just get back to camp and relax and see if anything turns up at the waterhole - spotted hyenas and lions usually visit in the evening. About 3 km south of the camp we found this little guy all by himself in a tree. We had heard that Barolong, the female in the Urikaruus area had been seen a week before with two cubs. He has since been named Tshidi and he was about 5 months old at the time.

Yes, we with him till 7.25PM.
