Excellent photos @michael-ibk and your beautiful Bee-eaters at post no. 100 (congratulations)

Your Little Ringed Plover is superb (we have never got that close). Great to see you with the Avocet as well (UK,Austria, South Africa)

Thanks, Tony - we were lucky with the Plover, I wish all birds would allow one to get that close. :)

107.) Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pomarina) / Schreiadler

This one got our guide excited, and caused a bit of a stir in the local bird forum. A very rare sighting, they are only seen a few times a year in Austria. Without Leander (our guide) I of course would have thought this is a Common Buzzard. :)

Interestingly, it has some features of a Greater Spotted Eagle - the two species often hybridize.

108.) Greater White-Fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) / Blässgans

A regular winter guest but a very irregular sight for May - it should long have moved on. Our guide thought it could be an injured bird.
