Great stuff Peter, I must have caught up earlier but when on holiday so unable to comment on my phone. Your excellent Purple Swamphen is no more...it's now an African Swamphen as it's been split in to 5 species.Doesn't help your BY but it did mine as I saw the Western Swamphen in Spain. 

Could I see a difference? Could I heck!

That glossy ibis is definitely prettier than the ones I photographed.

 

Or maybe the difference is not in the bird :D.

Thanks @Dave Williams. As I definitely won't see any other Swamphen species this year, it doesn't make any difference to my life. :D

 

@pedro maia, the Glossy is my favorite Ibis, but capturing the gloss is very dependent on catching them in the correct light.
