Tdgraves big year 2020 (my 7th!!)

So, it looks as it is just me and @Peter Connan who are late to the BY 2020 party, although I know that we have both been working on it! Am nearly finished with my last TR and there are 10000 photos to process from KTP, but it is easy to look at the beginning and end of the trip....

I think that I will have a smaller total this year. No trip to the States and nothing booked for Autumn as yet, but who knows??

When we landed in JNB a couple of weeks ago, I needed to find somewhere close to have lunch where the car (and all it's contents would be safe) and that would be vaguely en route to our first overnight stop, in Delaryville. It was @xelas TR that reminded me that we have not been to the botanical gardens for years and this fitted my criteria. It was hot and the middle of the day, so not a great total, but a lovely spot for some lunch and a post 17 hour flight (we went via Doha) walk, with the added bonus of a few birds, most of which we would not get in the KTP. Alas, we did not get to see the Verreaux's eagles, although they were around.

Nice shots, but I'm sure there must be more from Wally's Special Bird Garden?

Crumbs, that's a bit dissapointing...

But with 10k photos, sounds like you made up for it in the Kgalagadi.

Is that a sneaky admission @Dave Williams ? I blame travel lag...

Now I apologise in advance for some of these, the cloud cover was very dense and it rained at points....

We had driven past this place 3 times en route to the KTP and I had made a mental note to investigate further. When we would not be spending our first night in JNB this time, the drive to Delareyville is easily doable from the airport, making the next days' driving shorter and with the added bonus of a few extra birds. As you can imagine, it is not tourist central, so the choice of accommodation was rather limited, however, we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of our B&B, only 10 mins drive form the pan and will definitely return.
