Late to the party ... Sharon's first attempt

Hi all

Thanks to your encouragement I am going to have an attempt at a big (or more likely small-medium) year.  I'm not expecting huge numbers as life keeps me pretty busy, but hey why not give it a go.

So from what I have ascertained so far the rules look something like this

  • take photos of as many species of birds as you can in a year
  • id them and post the photos here
  • birds must be wild
  • the quality of the photos doesn't matter much
  • if you get to 500 you get bragging rights and much adoration

Does that sound about right?

Question do feral species count?

Ok away we go,

I'll start with some I took on a recent trip to Victoria to visit my parents and the inlaws - oh thinking now of all those common species I didn't bother to shoot :(

These first few are from Lake Wendoree in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia

1) Eurasian Coot

Dave Williams

You also have to be prepared for some good humoured ribbing too. Have fun, that’s what it’s all about!
