Thanks @PeterHG Welney is good for them, you just need to be there for feeding time. The problem is that they only feed in the winter, so that adequate light/cloud cover can be an issue.

I tried a new place back in March, Milton Country Park. I had always meant to go, but had avoided it during school holidays and had never got around to it at other times. It is on the outskirts of Cambridge and very close to the A14, so not really the wildlife/wilderness experience of other places that I visit. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. There were lots of areas to look out over the water and the subjects were very obliging, I guess in part as they are used to a higher footfall and in part as the lakes are much smaller. I was also blessed with good weather and to top it all, I got this lifer, although not the one that birders' were flocking to see (sorry :ph34r:) that was a yellow-browed warbler.
