I couldn’t find any in the group that looked like male linnets

That's because the sneaky blighters only show their colours in the spring. In 'autumn you are mainly looking at family parties, females, young etc.,

Twites would have a yellow bill usually.

Wow, what flocks!

Very nicely shot. Never managed a nice shot of a flock yet.

I've never seen flocks like that before!! I feel I could do better on a second trip, now that I know what to expect. Also, controlling a camera with a long lens on a tripod is a skill that I have not tried before...

I just spotted that you have the 200-400 , a nice lens and an interesting choice! Capturing and framing moving targets with a tripod mounted lens is not easy.

A present to myself @Dave Williams we are used to the ability to zoom and so I opted for this rather than a prime (second hand of course).

That´s mind-boggingly awesome, what a fantastic spectacle with all these waders! Wonderful, and I love your photos! I´d love, love, love to see that.

Seriously lagging behind here, both in the total and the processing of Kenya photos. Given that there are only two months of 2022 left, I need to make a serious effort. Before I get started on Kenya, I managed to find a couple more in the UK this month.

Given that we took the most photos on a safari ever in Kenya and the limited time left of 2022, I am going to just do it in date order, apart from where I know that there is a better example later on. I'll try and do the lifers first, but these may also creep in later, if I find out some IDs  - we didn't always have time to do this whilst we were there. As it was our first trip to Kenya and our trip to Tanzania was our second big safari, where we were not that into birds, there are a lot of new ones. Anything found in camp and some on drives were ID'd by me from the book/apps, so feel free to correct me as I go along!
