This is my first photo of this species for years, so please forgive the distance involved! There were at least 4 individuals present and I was happy with just hearing them booming, until this happened

I managed to have free time at the exact break in the weather yestday. Mostly obtained duplicates, but saw my first blackcap of the season (photo not great though, so holding out for better)

Right, I really must get on with this. Life has unfortunately intervened (again), but I have finally processed all of the bird photos from the Kruger (I think). Probably a little down on the usual total (and definitely on quality) as our first ever significant disruption with British Airways gave us an overnight delay, a daytime flight and an evening arrival into JNB, disrupting our usual first day plans and meaning that you we could not meet up with @Peter Connan at Marievale, as we would need to shop for food and then get to the park and we felt it would all be too rushed. However, we made up for this with a trip to Rietvlei at the end of the trip. This was the first use of our new mirrorless cameras and despite over 15 years experience with DSLRs, it was a steep learning curve! Luckily we had just about got to grips with the basics, when this happened on the first morning game drive...

This was our only sighting of this species. We were walking back and forwards to the car unloading our stuff when it flew low overhead and caught a lizard in front of the next unit, it then took it's kill into a tree. Unfortately me trying to get a better angle scared it off.

Great to the see start of your Kruger birds. Especially love the very puffy Puffback - great shot. Which mirrorless camera are you using? Definitely a difficult process getting the hang of them - at least for me. You seem to have handled it effortlessly!
