Satisfied?
Most (if not all) the spider pictures are labelled. Just put the cursor over them. Most of the insect pictures have yet to be labelled.

Most of these were taken somewhere in the mara (MNC, OOC, Naboisho) or Ol Pejeta.

I hope pictures from Central America (Oso Peninsula, Costa Rica to be precise) are allowed here....these taken last August as I was trying to get to grips with the dual frustrations of macro and flash photography for the first time:

Blue Eyed Grasshopper (how did they come up with that name?!)

As someone who is not an insect, dung beetle or arachnid expert I would finf it very helpful if these wonderful creatures could be named. It would be a good learning experience. or is this another test?

Fantastic images!

Fantastic images!

Almost all of my arachnid pictures are labelled. Just put your cursor over the image and a little box will pop up with the Family name, binomial species name, and common name.

Not all of my insect pictures are labelled as I haven't had time. If you want to know what any of them are, just ask and I'll do my best to give you the name.

Sorry AB, had not spotted this labelling before or your previous note on the this. I think I was just overwhelmed with all these spiders passing in front of my eyes. Amazing, fascinating and slightly scary, particularly at that size. Thanks to you and Whyone? for sharing these.

WOW! VERY COOL!
The second last one is a Pompiliid wasp parasitising a Jumping Spider (Salticidae). All the legs have been chopped off. I assume this is back somewhere close to the wasp's nest, where the wasp will then insert it's ovipositor (egg-layer) into the spider's body and lay it's eggs. The young wasps will then glean nutrients from the spider's body and eventually eat their way out.
Before the ovipositor is inserted, the spider is often still alive, having been stunned by a sting from the wasp.

I've watched all this happen from start to finish with a Huntsman Spider. Better than a cheetah kill, in my books.

I know next to nothing about creepy-crawlies, but this should at lest be a giraffe-necked weevil...

...elephant weevil...

...and a, I think, black and white marbled weevil.

Edit: Found another giraffe-necked, a female this time:

Here's a Papilio dardanus or Mocker Swallowtail butterfly. Thanks @@Tom K for the ID!

(personally, I think that butterflies, as well as dragonflies, deserve their own thread :P :P )
