Whilst I'm really slow with the editing ....... Just wanted to revive this report with some Lions at Semetu Kopjes. This was actually during our transfer from the airstrip at Seronera to Namiri Plains on arrival

The Male Lion is one of the 4 Kings -

Magnificent color palette...everything really comes together in that last shot. Though I can't decide if that male lion looks majestically windswept, or just has bedhead.

Post #101 is phenomenal. The first photo is "lights out". The ghostly blue colors in the rest of the photos are unbelievable.

Thanks for the quick response...also did you fly into NBO and then directly to camp or did you fly through Kilimanjaro Airport?

We went to the Mara first - so flew Mara to a remote border airstrip in Kenya to clear the paper work; drove about 45 minutes to a Tanazia border post and a remote airstrip there which then connected us to a direct flight to the Serengeti.

Not sure any of you follow the Serengeti cheetah project and the amazing research they come up with .....

Anyways, news of the young male in post #88 is, that the young male got separated accidentally by Asti - but, later on adopted by a different female with much younger cubs. WOW - who would have thought!!! Cheetahs are fascinating in every way!

If you are on facebook, please follow the updates from their project.

Thanks @@madaboutcheetah, I do follow the Serengeti cheetah project but the posts on my feed go so quickly down that I sometimes miss interesting stuff. This is an amazing story.

Seeing your pics I can remember the famous lines of TANAPA..

look as far as your eyes can see..

On the endless plains of serengeti...

Where the game herds run free..

And predators rest under acacia tree..

Hari,

Pick up the June CN Traveller India. Nice article and pictures ( you will like and identify with the cheetah shots :)) on Namari Plains.

It starts with " a secret section of the Serengeti is now open to visitors for the first time in 20 years...."

Just saw your posts

@@AKR1 - I finally got my hands on that article in the CN Traveller India magazine. Perfectly written up!!! I love Namiri!

@@Game Warden - thanks, but, I'm not a fan of the format in the review section. It's too much alike TripAdvisor ....... ;)

I had edited the last of the photos from the Serengeti a couple of months ago - didn't get around to posting them. Will do so when time permits.

Cheers

Hari

Hi madaboutcheetah

Only now just read through all of your report , fantastic wildlife and photos, a beautiful place.

Checked it out on a Serengeti map with all the camps indicated - its so far from from any other camps - perfect!

Now that means I have to add Namiri Plains to the list of wonderful safari locations I want to visit..............

@@Julian - Thanks. You are correct in that at the moment there aren't many camps near Namiri. Seronera is atleast a 3 hour drive away and there's so much to see on the way that I doubt too many cars will even be able to get this far.

I've not been to the Northern Serengeti or the Lamai Wedge that is meant to be stunning - but, the area around Namiri to me (personally speaking) is far more appealing compared to Ndutu or Seronera.

Just started on this TR and have to say bumping into that secretary with snake (post #36) was quite a piece of luck. Secretaries usually do nothing other than walk away from the vehicle. You move, they move.

@@ZaminOz - front seat next to the driver/guide (Don't remember - but, maybe the Lions were slightly higher up in elevation too compared to where we were parked).
