Flippin heck! I have a quick nap by the side of the road and wake up to see the Hare a distant speck!! The Cetti's is a bit special as they are pretty elusive.

And the speck will become smaller and smaller in future days :D. Don't nap, go birdin' !

Great additions - and an excellent shot of the Cetti's- we have heard a number of them so far but no chance of a photo.

You and @Galana showing how it is done!

Agree, great shot of the Cetti's.  I hear them all the time at the local reserve but have still not seen one.

Overall weather forecasts says rain over the weekend, with only the Saturday morning having some sun in the morning. Škocjanski Zatok was my target, and Zvezda stayed home, so also the image quality stayed home :(.

Anyway, I was able to grab a couple of new birds :).

As our folks like to say "bolje vrabec v roki kot golob na strehi" (A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush). Speaking of sparrows, lets not wait for "two in the bush" then.

My best photo from that day is a duplicate of a Coot.

The Wryneck does it for me. Not sure if this is not a first for Big Year!

What nonsense you spout!

Certainly Zvezda is an exceptional photographer, but there's nothing wrong with your photos either.

  • 2 weeks later...

This year again we have been invited by Michael and Andreas to join them for a few days of birding at Seewinkel. End of April is excellent time to visit this Austrian birding location, so we have had no second thoughts about accepting the invitation. We were there from April 30th till May 5th. Weather forecast was not that good on arrival day, cold and rainy, but next 4 days were much better, and dry. In total Zvezda has taken photos of about 85 different birds, both old news but also some new additions to this year Big Year.

I wish to thank Michael for his expert guiding, and Andreas for forcing us to have the Cardinal Schnitte break each day.
