:lol: The thing is, can I call it a new species?  and if so what?

I did see several (maybe 3) birds with the same plumage/markings

Dinner Duck........ and don't forget the orange sauce.

I think you can match a few of those already. 200 on the near horizon! Keep it up.

The link that @Galana posted called them Manky Mallards, I liked that.

I suppose, eventually, just as we have sprockers, cockerpoos and labradoodles, these will acquire a name of their own. I just hope it happens before the end of this year. :P

None of them fit to eat. My recipe would be grill the MM in its own juices over thick bread, baste with Co-op marmalade to get the orange flavour. After 45 minutes serve the bread and chuck the duck in the bin!

Save the feathers to tie flies for salmon fishing!

Stunning shots there!

Think I should give up right now.

There now follow some species that I never ever thought I would photograph, unless I could get a really amazing shot - which I did not.

#198 - Magpie - Pica pica

Suffolk, UK - July 2019

#199 - Blackbird - Turdus merula

Back garden, Suffolk, UK. July 2019

I managed to completely miss the Blackbirds pillaging every single cherry from my tree this year. They must have waited until I was out.

Are you sure about that?

I still can't bring myself to post photos of birds that I've identified but which are unrecognisable :P in the photos. I am in awe of your sheer bravado sir.:o

Well done on reaching 200 in your “quiet little year”!

I think those last 3 UK birds are very attractive

agreed! what you see are common birds would be exotic in my part of the world.

Congrats on the less successful "quiet" but more successful "loud with a banger of a 200th" year

@Soukous my congratulations on #200! And with excellent photos.

As for that Audubon aelection, some of them are indeed top, yet others, they would have a tough time competing with many of the photos posted over the years on Big Year. That at least to my eyes.

Congrats on 200

A Yorkshireman! I knew there had to be a reason.

Incidentally, me too.

So true Kit. A big reason why I get so excited about birds in other countries is that they seem more exotic. Ours may not be as colourful but they are just as fascinating.

200 up, well done. The Magpie is a beautiful bird, just don't like some of it's habits but hey ho some of mine aren't too good either!
