I was fortunate that it stayed in one spot for almost a minute and allowed photos

Out of control? Hardly. I have a few more images from Zimbabwe to post and then it will go quiet for a few months.

Unless something unexpected comes along I have no more travel plans until November. :(:(

#132 - Lilac-breasted Roller - Coracias caudatus

Hwange NP, Zimbabwe. May 2019

I wasn't going to bother with posting a Lilac-breasted Roller as they are so widely photographed and always look terrific. But I like the punk plumage on the first one and the wonderful early morning light on the second.

#134 - Barn Owl - Tyto alba

Hwange NP, Zimbabwe. May 2019.

We marvelled for a long time just how Timothy, our tracker, managed to spot this owl, it was so well hidden.

Even when we had reversed back and were staring at the bush where it was perched, all of us struggled to locate it - including our guide who was no slouch.

It was even suggested that the sighting was so 'impossible' that we should go back and check that it wasn't a prop, nailed to the tree.

It looks as though I've done it again.

This time I've double posted the Red-billed Quelea - posts 63 & 127.

I thought I'd checked my list of Tanzania posts but clearly not carefully enough.

So the next post will be 135.

Not a great shot as it was taken after dark when the spotlight found it.

We found two of these lovely birds in a forested area not far from camp but they refused to move  out of the shadows.
