Is it possible to show MOV files from an I-phone?

It has been a very quiet Summer but last weekend I went to the Eastern part of the Island and got

#64 (IOM # 61) Osprey, the first of the year. An EBC

Friday afternoon I finally got delivery of my Canon EOS R7 which should be a nice improvement over my 70D

First impressions look promising.

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on your new camera when you get used to it. A good start!

@TonyQ

A Red Kite gave me the opportunity to work with the camera during my lunch break from the comfort of the terrace.

Shifting from a DSLR to mirrorless takes some getting used to. I find the start up of the viewfinder a tad slow and it is hard to see much in the viewfinder against a very bright sky.

On the plus side I am extremely happy with the AF system that is fast and reliable even with my Tamron 150-600mm. I have sofar not suffered any of the focus hunting that has been described elsewhere. The camera offers good flexibility in terms of set-up and reassigning different functions to the different buttons. I am still experimenting to find the best set-up.

A good friend of mine who has the 5D mk4 is also happy with the R7, struggles to adapt to the viewfinder.

All in all I am extremely happy. This is a serious upgrade from the 70D.

@xelas  I have not found the nest but I believe it is quite near to the house. We see them regularly but rarely so close and with such good lighting. I was only using 300mm so could have been even closer but I was too busy adjusting the camera. Too many controls B)

thanks @michael-ibkI look forward to spending some more time with the camera and hopefully getting some special shots though I am not likely to get a Wallcreeper around here:rolleyes:

I too struggled with the viewfinder when I first changed to mirrorless but you do get used to it. The other features make the change more than worth it

I had this nice one circling over the house.

#66 (IOM 63) Sparrowhawk.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing how you are getting on with the R7. Start up seems to be an issue only when you have allowed it to go to sleep. I have started having mine awake all the time and that cures the problem but it does eat up more power. I have four batteries though so not a problem for a day's shooting. Instead of Canon batteries I bought Neewer from Amazon , much cheaper and work just as well.

@Dave Williamssofar I am extremely happy with the R7 for birds sitting still. For BIF the verdict is still out. I get a lot of shots that are soft but not as sharp as I would want them.  I am experimenting with settings but am also slightly concerned that the AF of the Tamron 150-600 G2 is not fast enough. I will post images as they come in😀

It has been fairly quiet on the birding front lately. Too much work combined with less than ideal weather.

Recently I noticed a larger bird going down into the brush next to the stream running close to the house.

I couldn`t really tell what is was until it took off.

#66 (IOM 63) Male Marsh Harrier. First time I have seen it so close to the house.

A few bonus shots.

From the terrace, a very pale Common Buzzard.

Today I went to the Eastern part of the Island. A Pallid Swift had been spotted in the afternoon yesterday and there was hope it was still around. The Pallid Harrier is a very rare vistor to Denmark. Unfortunately it was nowhere to be seen but I got to see this Sparrowhawk showing very aggressive behaviour towards a Rook. Unfortunately the pictures were overexposed, so not the greatest quality.
