Just as well really as Zvezda & I did not make a huge effort to socialise.

Come now . Ancient proverb 'A stranger is a friend you have yet to meet.'^_^

Another fair selection. Just as well you followed those LBrownJs with a few nice Little Blue n white Jobs or I would have got lost. Much as I like all the Flycatchers, esp Tickells, I think the Black-naped Monarch takes the honours in your selection.

A beautiful selection of flycatchers, and the Monarch is stunning

No comments on Warblers, surprisingly so . A Sulphur-bellied was active in the Svasara Lodge gardens, you might check your photos again.

Your Flycatchers are just beautiful! Where did you find all that light ?!

there were periods of good sunlight on our first afternoon at Old Magazine House. They were brief. Maybe that was when you were sleeping.

Must be so. But where was Zvezda?!

Here is another angle on the Big Blue Bird before it gets submerged. @Galanawill probably redact his statement about my birding ID skills :). After all, I am an apprentice of one of the most skilful birding masters on ST :D.

I was wondering where you were taking all these shots. The Old Magazine House comes highly recommended although I have never been.

Some cracking images and at least a reward for your troubles in getting there.

Not so. You may well be right. Neither bird fits perfectly but the comparative size vv the Babbler makes the subject appear larger whereas Flycatchers would be same size.

Whilst I like @xelasefforts I think it a bit big for a flycatcher and would suggest Malabar Whistling Thrush.

The Dark-fronted Babbler is a very small/compact Babbler compared to others like Jungle Babbler. I fear I have lost my Malabar Whistling Thrush. Well done detective @xelas

An interesting venue @Dave Williams. Many hours of nothing at all then half an hour of frenzied activity with birds flying in from all directions.

Our first afternoon entailed some waiting, then a great half hour, then more birds coming in at dusk just to tease us.

The next day we went out for the morning and when we got back we were told it had been very quiet and the afternoon gave us very little.

There are seasonal variations.

The setup is simple, there are perches and baths set up in a semi circle and facing them is a blind

Old Magazine House, Karnataka

A bit like the Germans with their towels, the guests place their tripods in a favoured spot and then disappear until there is action.

It is a good place to see all the latest camera gear :P

The accommodation is run by Jungle Resorts. It is simple and comfortable, with decent food.

Sorry if I am only providing minimal information here but @xelasis working on a trip report and I don't want to spoil it for him.

We stayed at Old Magazine House for just 1 night, but had a day and a half there.

In the morning we drove to somewhere fairly close by to see Hornbills feeding on a huge fruiting tree. It was quite a sight. Apparently they come each morning and spend about 30-45 minutes feeding, then they all fly off.
