Great sequence of photos even if the conditions were as challenging as in Brussels this morning ;)

Nice start Sharon!

Is your Common Bulbul not a Dark-capped Bulbul? Confused? I am !

They look identical but seems "they" separated the species at some stage without sending me a personal notification so I was surprised to find my South African Bulbul seen last year was no longer a Common one.

@Dave Williamsto be honest this is something that confused me the whole time I was in Africa, your question seems to clarify the matter.  What appeared to me to be the same bird was variously called common bulbul or dark-capped bulbul by different guides, I wasn't sure which was which or if it was two different species at all.  I'm pretty much relying on the Merlin ap for my bird ID so went with common as that is what is says occurs in Vic Falls, but I will edit now to dark-capped.  Does that mean then that the ones I saw in Kenya are common bulbuls and therefore another species?

Count the two Bulbuls if you are in two different places in my opinion Sharon

I share your pain and frustration at name changes.

Your excellent Black "Heron" has yellow feet like an Egret and is called Egretta but some folks have decreed it a Heron.

Enjoyed your good start.

Interestingly the egrets in Australia have black feet.  I was stunned to see a little egret with yellow feet.
