On a cold wet day we found these young lions hidden amongst the trees

This photo was taken in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It is included in my recently published book (Random House Struik--Cape Town), Kalahari Summer in photographs and oils. I've had people laughingly say, "That's a Hollywood lion photoshopped into an English country garden." Nope, it is just the product of a summer of good rains at exactly the right time to produce such a riot of blossoms and a lion who conveniently plopped down in exactly the right place.

Happy this was bumped up; I had missed it....Amazing photos all.

I have some lion photos I love...but I'd never have the nerve to show them against these great shots. But observing the lighting, and composition of great photograph is helping me already!

So thanks everyone :)

@@Morkel Erasmus,

I need to take YOU with us :D

I read your blog and tuned into the Giraffe/Lion encounter.. amazing, along with the story told.

I learn more from seeing photos; someone starts talking "f-stops,iso, - NOISE"(that took forever to figure) How could a camera make noise? LOL

I get blurry eyed....

But it helps to observe,

....and hoping Craig has a bit of knowledge to share.. I hope I don't drive him crazy over 13 days

Usually it's the female who kicks up a fuss post mating, but this time she thought it wise to steer clear of those teeth!
