A reasonably common Lapwing in the Ethiopian highlands. Here from Dinsho.

Quite a striking Lapwing, and a new one for me. Unfortunately not very approachable. Seen at Ali Deghe.

Such a familiar bird from safaris in both East and Southern Africa, but in Ethiopia we saw only these two from afar - and were disappointed about them because they were not Black-Headed Lapwings.

The most common of the small waders. Here from Lake Hawasa.

Only one seen somewhere between Addis and Guassa.

A shy one, seen on the Sanetti Plateau.

Actually not green but greyish-yellow. One bird seen at Doho Lodge. And no, I have no idea who that Bruce is.

A common dove in more arid areas. Seen a lot in Awash and Ali Deghe (where photos were taken).

A huge Pigeon, and a new one for me. A few seen at Lake Langano, a flock in Harenna Forest (where this photo was taken).
