One more photo that is way to close to be an "ebc" one. Huge distance and heavy crop.

What a spectacular Bishop! The "Northern " counterparts in Gambia were in non-breeding plumage so we missed out on that bright red.

I posted a Black-winged Red Bishop on my BY, really dull like these females Alex has posted. You need to be in the Gambia in November to catch them in breeding finery still. When in Namibia last year I saw a Yellow-crowned Bishop in full breeding plumage and it was one of the most memorable birds I have ever seen. Flew around like a giant Bumblebee!

Zvezda's male is an absolute corker!

yeah, I have seen it at Marienvale with @Peter Connan and we immediately nicknamed it the Bumblebird :D

Magnificent.

But I think your male Red-winged Starling is actually a Pale-winged. The female you posted is red-winged though, so maybe an extra tick?

Indeed it is, @Peter Connan! Look in the eyes, Alex!! The mantra I have forgotten about; thinking I am already starting to get the birding and the ID . I will look for another Red-winged male Starling, I am sure there must be some. Thanks You, Peter!

With the competition like on this BY 2018, one has to move fast ... and what else to be expected from a hare?!
