Those are two different individuals, there are at least three in the area.

Entering EBC territory now, this species can only be found in a couple of very particulary places in the Algarve and they just didn´t stay still and are small and quick so I couldn´t get better pictures.

Yesterday afternoon I went to look for a difficult one following ebird rarities alert, I was lucky, it took me 5m to find it, of course things don´t use to happen like this, I had missed it earlier this week.

And this morning I got another new one for me, an exotic that has some established populations here in Portugal.

Yesterday I had a super sighting, probably my favourite so far, I went on a short morning "raid" to the Alentejo with two specific goals, one was the ferruginous duck, wich is a rarity here but I knew where to find and was easy, and the other one I missed it but in the spot I was looking for that second one I saw the rarest European bird of prey, even if the pictures aren´t good (as always) I am really happy with this one.

#211 (N38), 2/8, Spanish imperial eagle, Ribeira de Maria Delgada, Castro Verde

I believe there are some established populations of Leiotherix in Europe. Is there an indication of breeding yet in Portugal?

I don’t have much information but according to what I read there may be a couple of areas with possible breeding populations in Portugal but over the years sightings come and go, the areas seem to be in Sintra and Coimbra, I saw them close to Sintra.
