We are also lucky to see these birds a lot from home, this one was taken from a field close to our house.

These are my favourite gull.  Very funny to watch their antics and comical to look at!

Good set of additions! Amazing how the patch on your Teal's head looks blue, whereas I always perceive them as being green. Not some kind of virus, I hope...? ;)

I looked up the description for Teal and it does say 'dark green eye patch', but in other pictures I have of teal it also looks blue, must be I have always photographed them in the sun, although not sure how I have managed that in this country!! :D

Green gloss often looks Blue in certain lights and angles. e.g. Look at Mallard's head.

Some good photos there. I would have posted them ages ago.

A couple from home.

Our resident wren likes to hunt around the pond looking for food.  He/she goes up and down through the holes in the net searching along the water edge.

Luckily my local nature reserve is very local so I can get there occasionally for a walk.

I saw these geese for the first time in a field adjacent to the reserve.  I watched them for a few minutes then they flew to follow another group that had just passed overhead.

There is a spot in the adjoining woodland that if you wait for a while you can almost guarantee a nuthatch.

Finally got that Greenfinch.  I say them fly in as a pair and waited for them to get onto the feeders. I am pretty sure they are male and female.

With Easter over, I ventured out to the local nature reserve again to see what I could find.

Only 2 birds to post, but I was hearing plenty of Cetti's warblers (one day I hope to actually see one) and heard a Grasshopper warbler, but no luck in taking a picture.

Joined the feeder slippery slope I see!!!! I managed my first female Blackcap sighting a couple of days ago too, far more furtive than the males who stand out singing.

I know, I was really pleased to find a pair - never saw a single one last year.

Another visit to the local reserve produced just the one new warbler.  I spent ages waiting for it to appear from the reeds to get any kind of picture.
