Thanks everybody!

We have had a lot of building work going on most of the year, that is finished now so I can concentrate more on the birds.

We actually saw a Nuthatch on a new feeder we have put up last week and that is a garden first so we were very pleased.

Despite very few postings recently I am still trying!!

I was hoping to get out for some more UK birds after my 14 day quarantine, but RSPB Leighton Moss has closed for Lockdown 2 which is a bit of a pain, not that I could drive to it (or anywhere) at the moment because I am nursing a couple of cracked ribs.

So in the meantime I am having to resort to pulling a couple out of the EBC file which I will not be able to better this year.  Also, the garden birds took pity on me and a few I hadn't seen in a while put in an appearance.

We tried several times during the breeding season this year to get some pictures of the nesting Ospreys but we only managed very distant views.  The nest is a very long way from the viewing platform.  The Osprey is towards the left of the nest in the first picture.  The 2 white blobs are the monitoring cameras.

This guy hasn't been seen by us for ages so we were really pleased to see him on the seed feeder yesterday.  Then today he appeared again on a closer feeder.

That sounds painful! I do hope you'll get better soon. Nice garden birds, fortunately!

A walk along the canal at the weekend has given me two more for BY.

First another one from earlier in the year that I don't think I will better.

This bird is quite common around the estuary of Glasson along the Lancashire Coastal Way and also in the fields surrounding the Lancaster Canal, which is where we found this one.

But our best find were the Goosanders, also quite common on the canal at this time of year.

This one is a duplicate.  Grey Heron are often seen in and around the canal but there is one that we nearly always see sitting at lock no 6.  He is a very chilled heron and you can walk right past him without him flying away, so I took a face on picture for a change.

Thank you.  Walking is good for them (well that's what I tell myself), sitting in one position for too long makes them ache a lot.
