i was hoping that you had an ID for my mystery bird

I'm afraid not. My experience with Kenyan birds dates from way back, so is rather limited...

@Tdgraves

I have a suggestion ; looked at the Pipits because that's what it is in my opinion and first thought a Tawny ( very uncommon in that part of Africa ) but more and more convinced that it is " simply " a Grassland African Pipit ( Anthus cinnamomeus )

Yes. I agree it iis a mystery.:D

I am currently in a renovated Peel Tower of 1450 ish just outside Peebles. Smart folk these Borderers as they must have had wiffy long before Gates and co.

However I am without my African Field guides so am unable to assist until I get back to IOM.

Off the top of my head Pirrott may be close with his Grassvled Pipit but I remain uncommitted at the moment.:P

Ok then @Galanai’ll have to carry on being patient

say hello to my ancestors (my Gran was a “borderer”)

Great photos, love the Crowned Eagle and the "artsy" Flamingo shot. I´d also go with Pipit for your mystery bird - but African? Plain-Backed? Long-Billed?
