a really nice effect and a neat photo, you should have told us it was intentional

@Dave Williams- thank you for the tutorial! It's really useful. I don't often use PS so that trick is new to me.

My main photo editing software of choice is Lightroom Classic and it's a bit of a deficiency that you can't select an area outside of the photo. Nevertheless, you spurred me on to try find a solution in LC and eventually I did. It's a bit clunky but you can use the Spot Remover tool to move the bird and then the masking tool to clean up the area left behind.

A bit like the below

@Soukous- you're totally right! And I've adjusted the post to clearly reflect this :D

I love that golden light at Burgess Park! You are (also) moving quickly toward #50!

48. Common Chaffinch, Minsmere, January

I mentioned in an early post that I had been able to make my first trip to Minsmere, in early January. It was a very successful day with 16 birds added to my BY list. First up an old favourite...

50. Goldcrest, Minsmere, January

I don't know about everyone else but I tend to find that I only get a few chances a year of a Goldcrest photo so I'll take it while I can

51. Whooper Swan, Minsmere, January

With this image I'm not out the Swan game (unless I go to Aus or the Americas).

A Great Egret, helpfully next to a Little Egret for easy comparison :D

59. Bearded Reedling, Minsmere, January

Minsmere is famous for three birds - the Western Marsh Harrier, Great Bittern and Bearded Reedlings. By far the most accommodating were the Reedlings.  Although they didn't start that way!  Until almost the last hour of sunlight this view was the best view that I got...

...luckily though I came across this feeding family

Dave Williams

Fair motoring now! Minsmere was on my hit list but just cancelled those plans as someone coming to stay with us so the touring caravan is mothballed again!
