a quick trip to the Wetland Centre and this time I got it!

Indeed you did. No other birders to mislead you needed. Well done.

And you can not see the central stripe on the head coz it ain't there. QED.

Very good additions! A Jack Snipe is always something special and I did enjoy the challenge of finding your fieldfares...;)

Venus Pools! Used to be a favourite when I went to visit my Mum who lived in Church Stretton. She has been dead 10 years now and I have never been back, it's a cracking reserve..or at least it was! Used to be good for Kingfisher and I'll never forget the time I was sat in the hide there wit just two other people. One said to the other, "it was this time last year we saw an Osprey here", I chipped in" if you look to your right it's just coming in now" They looked at me as if I was stupid, then looked right and then they were speechless! Amazing timing!

@Zim Girl- it's funny how it goes. They're common in Central London but I would definitely trade you a few of them for any of your sightings of Garganey, Ring Ouzel, Marsh Tit or Dipper! :D

Well that's a deal! :D

@Dave Williams- that's a great story! I really like the reserve, mainly because it's got two hides which are for SOS members only and they're normally always empty so I can take my kids and mercifully not disturb anyone. I never anything too special there but there was Green Winged Teal earlier in the year. Sadly when I wasn't in town.

88. Grey Wagtail, Brookmill Park, London, February

I've been hoping to find a Kingfisher at a local park but so far no luck. Still I did get a consolation prize

89. Brent Geese, Isle of Sheppey, February

Visiting the Isle of Sheppey and in this case the Elmley Nature Reserve has absolutely been the find of my birding year so far.

90. Short Eared Owls, Isle of Sheppey, February

The undoubted highlight of the trip was seeing my first SEO. Not the worlds greatest photos but I'll take it :D

One of the best things about Elmley Nature Reserve is that the first 3-4kms are driven on a track through the marsh so you can use your car as a hide - affording some really close up views.

For these photos I was trying to blur the wings whilst getting the body still. This female Kestrel is famous on the reserve and you approach her very close on foot.

This is the closest I got to the blurred effect

There are also plenty of BIF opportunities - ideally slow moving BIFs :P

And some B&W scenery just so I can claim I'm fancy  (FYI it's a hare hiding in grass)
