100. Eurasian Spoonbill, Goldcliff Lagoons, Newport, March

At short notice I had to renew my passport for a trip to the US and in the UK government's infinite wisdom (and it is infinite! <_<) London and the South East is served by a single Passport Office, so to get an appointment I had the joy of spending a weekend driving a round trip to Newport. Determined to squeeze some value out this trip I did some birding on the way and was reward with a surprise.

First Eurasian Spoonbills!

Congratulations on #100 and beyond! Some really good species and very good photos in the set. That SEO is really something special. It's been years since I saw one. I love your blurred wing shot of the kestrel. It's the perfect bird to try that out!

Well done on the ton!

I applied for a new passport during lockdown as I guessed there would be a rush later. I still had 16 months left on mine but that could have been less depending how long it was before we travelled. posted it on Monday and got the new one back on Friday! Ever so glad I did, it took me 5 months to get my new obligatory photo driving licence when I hit 70 so I couldn't hire a car when we made our first trip.

@Dave Williams- well done on your passport! I have some friends who didn't get theirs back for 8 weeks and had to re-arrange holidays as a result . It just feels like there is a Covid backlog across all our public services

104. Forster's Tern, Orlando, March

In March attended a trade show in Orlando and snuck away for a morning to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend an early morning visit to this reserve. The birding is fantastic.
