I did think it sounded a touch too exotic 😂

No. "They" ebird and the 'experts' have split the Olive Thrush into several species so 'Abyssinian ' is correct. There are a bout six others, all of which were previously, in our primitive and humble inadequacy, we called 'Olive Thrush'. (As opposed to its only 'rival' the African Thrush.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abyssinian_thrush

Whatever will they split next? No doubt these overpaid and under employed 'experts' are already working out what was the true species of Cock Robin and his murderous friend with the little arrow.

Haven't a clue what a White-winged Widowbird looks like but my immediate thoughts was female Stonechat albeit African one.

Looks like you had an excellent trip! Making good number now.

Jumping forward in March I organised a trip to Bali for our local camera club.  It wasn't a bird focussed trip but I took along my new RF100-500mm lens to give it a run.  There were times I missed the f2.8 of my 400mm but it was much easier to carry about and did manage to help with a few new ticks.

At one point our car split from the group and we got a bit lost - and we were glad we did as it produced two unexpected finds

Wow, the Bat cave is something else! I have seen Fruit Bats in such number but nothing like that.
