I don't know why the KhoiSan should be offended, the name was never applied to them. This name is applied to the Khoekhoe people.

 

As a boy I once visited my Mom's family's ancestral farm in the Namaqualand. The farm forman (a Hottentot) was introduced to me as "Outa Koos". My mother made it very plain that that was what I should call him, as he considered it a mark of respect. Today that word would land one in very hot water indeed!

This whole woke business is getting out of hand.
