We had to find a new B&B. This one was about 15 mins away from Rietvlei, rather than just around the corner and had a smaller garden. However, we had the place to ourselves and they let us check out at 17.30 for no extra cost, so we were very happy. The first couple of birds I found were very surprising - a pair of spotted thick-knees (already counted from KTP), a Burchelll's coucal (better photos from Kruger) and a woodhoopoe (ditto)! But I did get a few more.

Welcome back, a great start to this trip´s birds!

We saw a new bird not once, but twice on different roads going towards and away from the park, but as we were on the motorway, no camera. Still it was very nice to see a long-crested eagle, after looking for so long in the books. We had a couple of Kruger firsts (memory dependent) but unsurprisingly after so many trips, no actual new birds this time.  I am going to go in order and try to post only the good shots, but am starting with a poor one, as surprisingly it was our only sighting...
