More rare birds were spotted at the other local reserve this week, so I thought I'd go and try the walk that I had to abandon last time due to the flooding. No sign of said birds, but I completed the walk and got a couple for the BY...

The following day I decided to go the stork site, as it had been hanging around, with the night-herons, but approach from the other side. It seemed my timing sucked as that was the day that both relocated further along the washes. No matter, I discovered another path for the future and got a walk in, but nothing new to add for the BY.

As the walk didn't take very long, I went on to the nearest RSPB reserve, somewhere I hadn't been to in years. There had been recent reports of spotted flycatchers, including on that day, but I didn't see any.

I did learn what treecreepers sound like, but it was generally pretty quiet. I got a nice and unusual sighting of a female marsh harrier landing in a tree, but the photos were very disappointing

A worthwhile day out.

Nothing wrong with two of those Harrier shots. The first one is quite an action shot and with 789 I would do a big crop on the other bird as it looks quite sharp to take a crop and looks quite a nice bird.

Heck. I would use it if I got one like that.

A bit of a quiet month, largely due to the uncooperative weather. My first trip out (Godmanchester NR, 6/7/23) only netted duplicates, unless any of you are convinced that this is a great black-backed gull...

This wren was not happy about the presence of my sleeping cat and continued it's alarm calls for ages....the cat just slept!

A trip to Milton Country Park on 11/7/23 was equally unrewarding - one of the lakes has blue-green algae, which didn't help...we did see some babies though.
