I think that when the species is unveiled you´re going to kick yourselves...

It would certainly help if we knew what style of bed linen it prefers

I wouldn´t know that but it would probably prefer a room with a Bible...

Much better. So we are in Europe after all and there is no central stripe on the crown just a parting?

I thought we had ruled out sparrows but is this Spanish Sparrow or even, dare I suggest  it House Sparrow?.

Briars. Sometimes called Blackberries when fruiting. Thorny rambling growth visible to the right of the bird as we look at it.

What Brer Rabbit got thrown into.:P

So to recap.

Europe. A seed eater's bill and not a Sparrow or Bunting and obviously none of the what should now be non existent Widows, Whydahs etc.,

It's a funny looking lark to me which apart from a Portugese exotic is about all that remains.

We need a Bible badly for somebody to swear on!

Not a Sparrow, Lark, Bunting or Finch but in Europe?

I don't think there is anything else.

I can't find a Bible so after you with the Webley, Martin.

You may have to pick it up off the floor as I won't be in any state to hand it to you

@pedro maiaI think Fred & I have exhausted our options and as no-one else seems to be playing we might have to give you a victory on this one. So tell us, what is it?

Ok guys, time to unveil the species, while in Africa you were close but you forgot the bishops, I gave a few clues, faith, byble, but wasn’t enough, it’s a female or a juvenile Yellow-crowned bishop, they are quite common here and right now the males are in full breeding plumage but a picture of a male would be to easy.

This one was fun :P.

Like I said. Another Portugese exotic escape.

Ah well. It kept the old grey matter working which is no bad thing.

No escapes on "Where was the photo taken." WYSIWYG":P

it’s not an escape, they have several established populations here and that shouldn’t prevent you to guess while thinking it was in Africa <_<.

Tomorrow I’m going to search for eagles so over to any of you guys.

They were introduced into Spain some years ago but have prospered.

Good luck with the Eagles.

If nobody minds I will fill the void and re-start with that non Australian Thornbird I posted earlier...

offshorebirder

My two cents' worth:  as long as it's not a cage bird, I don't have a problem with allowing exotics in the game.
