310/SP48 Osprey, Ebro Delta

A perched osprey (on a wire - we'll still take it) that was quite close to us? pretty rare for us.

311/SP49 European Starling, Catalonia/Aragon

We saw the starling almost every day but capturing its luminosity and colours proved almost impossible for us. They were either far away or the light was pretty dismal.

Belated condolences on your sad loss and further belated congratulations on hitting, and passing comfortably, the magic 300.

Some excellent portraits in your collection.

Did you ever count the 'bonus' photobombing wader or had you seen it in Singapore?

Dave Williams

I add my condolences too, as already said what an awful way to end a miserable year.

You did well in Spain though, the Cetti's warbler is outstanding. I heard them regularly at our local reserve but never got so much as a glimpse. Elusive little critters!

To get to 300...wow!

@Galana do you mean this photobomber? do you think it is not  a sanderling? i just assumed it was as they were the only other birds there (except the grey plover and gulls). I'll love to hear what you think it is.

More excellent birds. A pity about losing the light, but you still managed to get great photos. Love the Moustached Warbler, never managed a proper photo of that one.

320/SP58 Dunlin, Ebro Delta

most of my photos at Ebro Delta came out rubbish as I was either shooting through the glass window or my camera couldn't cope with the low light.

Luckily Herman has better shots.

323/SP61 Common Pochard, Ebro Delta

324/SP62 White-headed Ducks, Ebro Delta

A flock of common pochards and white-headed ducks was being harassed by three marsh harriers and the strong winds just kept the ducks far from us. Which was quite a shame. The white-headed ducks were a special treat as they are rare residents in the delta, being mainly southern Spain birds.
