Some really nice shots in these last few days!

Thanks Peter. Although it’s not much of a nature walk, given the number of people and being in the shadow of a main road, but the chance of proximity to birds and therefore decent photos more than makes up for it, especially if the sun comes out. I’ve never encountered such tame moorhens, for example.

Looks like I missed a couple in the conversion process....

The count is coming along nicely.

Wouldn't mind living in the house where the Barn Owl was!

I'm curious, what made you choose the 1DX3?

A good price in an auction! Wasn’t really planning on buying a new camera, so hadn’t researched or anything….

Beautiful additions. The SE Owl is just awesome. Out of many great shots I really like the first Whooper photo.

Thanks @michael-ibkgot an ever better SE owl this week….

As you asked so nicely @michael-ibk

I had just arrived at RSPB Ouse Fen and saw something flying over the water on the far side, so I focussed in and hit "fire". There was no time to change the settings and most were out of focus due to the similar colours of the feathers and the background, but I got a couple. It was only when it got a lot closer that I realised what I had seen

It was the best bird viewing I have had at the new part of this reserve as it is devoid of trees or shrubs and the walkways are higher than the water, meaning that the birds see you coming from far away. But I'll definitely be going back more now!

I lucked out here, as I have never seen these before at this site (my first visit of the year) and the next time I visited, they had disappeared!

I was very surprised to see these as I drove out along the lane from the car park. As I have sometimes had no sightings for a BY, I am posting now anyway!

Last Tuesday was a glorious day and so I planned a day out for a long walk in Fen Drayton Lakes. I had forgotten that the floods take a long time to recede and so the footpaths on the final two thirds that I had planned were inaccessible and so the trip was a bit truncated. The blue sky and sunshine more than made up for it though!

These were from the car on the way out. There was a gate in the way of the shot, so I thought I'd get out. No sooner had I opened the door then they ran off at speed!
