Mahaica River. A widespread but rather shy Cuckoo. My second sighting, the first was last year in Ecuador.

Mahaica River. Very similar to the Squirrel Cuckoo but much smaller and relatively shorter-tailed.

224/G224) Western Cattle Egret ( Bubulcus ibis) / Kuhreiher

 

Mahaica River. Almost forgot to take a photo. Cattle egrets were first sighted in the Americas on the boundary of Guiana and Suriname in 1877, having apparently flown across the Atlantic Ocean.

Mahaica River. A purely coastal raptor. A near threatened species.

A juvenile (EDIT: It is not, actually an immature White-Tailed Hawk, this photo was flagged late November on ebird. Does not change the overall count though.)

Mahaica River. Super delighted about this one - new Kingfisher for me. Shy and hid quite deep inside but fortunately could find an angle to get through.

Mahaica River. Spinetails are generally quite tough to get but this species was quite bold. Always in pairs.
