I must stop in Flevoland next time I am driving through NL. It looks very productive.

It certainly can be (though definitely not always) and I'd be happy to show you some worthwhile spots

Today I took a short walk in the Arkemheen polder, my usual haunt. It got me a bird I had only seen once before many years ago.

40 / NL 40. Water Pipit. Arkemheen, 5/1. A heavy crop as it was quite distant.

There were many duck, but most of them far away. Among them I spotted a few Pintails.

stunning kestrel Peter and aren't Pintails one of the most elegant ducks.

Our local park has been a lot busier than usual lately on account of closed schools and people wanting to get away from their homes for a little walk. Even so, because of the snow I couldn't resist going there with the camera.

And it got me some nice pictures and some additions.

As it turned out there was quite an invasion of Redwings and most of them were not shy at all. Already counted, but they made for such lovely models

Lovely winter photos Peter. Jealous about the Redwings, we rarely get them.

I have just opened to reply and it said "Nice shots of Kestrel and Pintail" so I must have had another senior moment and forgot to 'submit'.

I wondered why it had not appeared. Better late than never.

And so to the reason for posting. Loved the robin  and redwings. I think ours may have gone already as I have not seen any for a while.

Doesn't look the snow is holding you back Peter! Some excellent captures, just hoping I can get out to photographs some wildfowl too before they head off again.

Lovely shots - and looking at the snow makes me feel slightly cooler in our hottest month!

Some more additions from our local park:

48 /NL 48. Goldcrest. Amersfoort, 10/2. They never sit still for even a second. I have a lot of partial or vague photos of this little one. This is the whole bird, at least ;)

49 / NL 49. Greylag Goose. Arkemheen, 12/2. Usually not one of my preferred targets for photography, but the snow changed that. I especially went to the area to try and catch flight shots of geese, while the underside of their wings is lit by the reflection of the snow on the fields. I hoped for White-fronted or Barnacle Geese, but they had all left to find food elsewhere. There were still greylags, however, which at least gave me the chance to get the shots I wanted.
