368/MY13. Diard's Trogon, Panti

 

we heard it the entire part of the morning and tried to lure it out but at one point, it sneakily flew behind our backs across the road and vanished into the jungle. later when the group of us were together and were near the end of our morning session, it called. and finally a sharp-eyed spotter found it and the only tiny window - between two trees. 

A lifer for both Herman and I.

Congkak in Hulu Langat, close to Kuala Lumpur, is about 4 hours drive from the border.

An outlier as this was seen in a different location, one that is closer to Singapore. 

 

The red colours just don't translate well in the darkness of the jungle.
