This is a Juvenile - the adults have a bright red eye (hence the name!)

I confess that I didn't know I had seen this! I was taking a picture of a different bird, and this was towards the edge of my photo. The head markings are different to the Collared Plover.

Not great photos, but this was a great sighting. It is tiny for a rail, only about 15cm. We were delighted to see it
