They were compared to Paddle Steamers because of the way they move through the water. There is also a flightless version, but unfortunately we didn't see that one.

Our 5th and final species of Cormorant - all the ones that were possible in the areas we visited. It was a pleasure to see the variety.

Chilean cormorants are much better looking than ours. They even have interesting names to check my reading ability.

Only 2 pipits likely to bee seen in Chile, and only this one in this area. Good news for those of us that struggle with pipits!

KIndly sitting outside a restaurant!. This swallow is also blue and white (but not Blue-and-White:)) and often flies around with the one above. This one has white at the base of the tail/rump. Difficult to tell apart when flying high overhead.

POor snatched photo from car window. This is very similar ro the Northern one we saw on the Pelagic trip, but it has a different coloured beak.
