Mana Pools, October 2014.

Pausing for breath (I am quite sure I needed it more than the dogs!) following a 90 minute / ~6km run through the bush!

South Luangwa NP - August 2014

Do not upset the croc ....

because it will try and upset you ....

The dogs had made a kill in the bush and the croc was trying to scavenge the kill. The pack tried to lure the croc away but whilst all this drama was going on an african fish eagle that was perched in a nearby tree saw an opportunity and flew down to take some of the kill.

Kate Kenchington, Guest Relations Manager at Vumbura Plains in the Okavango sent through this footage shot at the end of December - a truly extraordinary sighting of a wild dog kill right in camp!

Brutal

Interesting to see that the dogs arriving after the takedown all check out the person standing watching/filming before they start feeding

This is Rex our amazing 3 legged wild dog who has managed to keep up with his pack in the Okonjima Nature Reserve, after having his leg amputated in 2012, the result of a giraffe kick we think.

When we stayed at Vumbura Plains a couple of years back we heard about a kill on the decking in front of the bar.

The dogs use the camp structure regularly as a trap for prey.

@@Koolfish Welcome aboard and thanks for the photo of Rex. You might be interested to see pictures of a 2-legged wild dog which was observed in Kafue, Zambia.

@@WildernessSafaris That is some video, not unlike the very first one in this topic. Amazing how they use the camp structure to hem the prey in. One can imagine that some guests would not have wanted to see things so close to home. Thanks for sharing.

Puppies at Kwando Lagoon August 2004.

Unfortunately the Alpha female was killed by a Lion two days later and the puppies did not survive.

Wow. Brand new to this site. The first place I went was on this thread where I watched that crazy video of wild dog hunting and catching the impala in that camp; shocking, sad, thrilling, crazy.... So many emotions. Those folks saw something so few do!,

When we were at Mombo in 2013 we happened up Solo, the female dog that had adopted a pack of jackals as her family.

She was on a mission to get back to them, so it was a wild ride following her...her jackal family was making a racket. Maybe they were hungry - she seemed to be the pack's successful provider :)

@@TonyQ, yes it was at LWC

I have a lot more, hopefully I will have time over the next couple of weekends to process and put a TR together.

I sent Annabelle a small selection to put on the LWC facebook page (not sure if this link will work)
