A lifer for me. A bit smaller than our Northern Gannet, but a similar shape and similar fishing method.

I spent a very rewarding few days in Norfolk last week. There were lots of highlights but spending a few hours with a group of short-eared owls was certainly amongst the top:

Great photos of the Owls @pomkiwi

Where in Norfolk did you see these?

These were at Welney - the WWT nature reserve. On the first day I visited there was also a barn owl hunting close by at midday.

It seems that this was my year for seeing White-bellied Sea Eagles.

I got shots in Australia but then we saw no fewer than 4 of them in Goa as well, although the light was not nearly as good as Australia

offshorebirder

Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus) about 20 miles ESE of Oregon Inlet, North Carolina on February 5.   It was maneuvering to dive on a school of baitfish (AKA bait ball) driven to the surface by Little Tunny (Euthynnus alletteratus).

Beautiful shot @offshorebirder!

Apparently the most common bird in the world, but quite pretty when one looks close enough.
