I agree with Dunlin in that (very impressive) Godwit spectacle, wing and tail look ok. No idea about your duck, some escapee?

Ditto. In case others don't see it here it is again.Dunloin.JPG.09eb3a99ea8dea048a697b86ab7983cb.JPG

EBCing at its best.

Some very productive photos in your progress to the second ton.

Can you over expose the back of the duck, is it a reddish colour? Have a look in your South African book, second thoughts don't, it's in Sasol but not Roberts. It's a Ringed Teal I think. It's a South American bird apparently so why it's in the ``Sasol book I'm not sure.

Odds on it's escaped from the exotic species at Welney or perhaps that other place where they broadcast one of the BBC's     " ******watch" series.

Just had another peep at your bird and it's definitely got a lot of Ringed Teal IMO, but it might have a bit of something else too!

Thanks @Dave Williams but they do not have an exotic collection at Welney, must have escaped from elsewhere....

no wonder the Merlin app did not ID it!

@Galana what about the duck?

Dave beat me to it.

 Ringed Teal.

I like a good challenge on a draft Saturday afternoon.ringed-teal-duck-e1529865855729.jpg.e5438e66b43f3ea656a24df721af4e7f.jpg

This made me look at my SASOL. It comes with five other Exotic ducks. (including Tufted and 'our' Sheldduck).

All escapes. Amazing. The only exotic ducks I have come across were in a Bar in Cairo!

I had a free afternoon earlier in the month and decided to give the new 5D another outing (I usually use the 7D for birds) I went to a new spot, Grafham water. The weather wasn't really on my side, but it is a good new find. However, the timing needs to be correct, judging by the size of the car parks, I imagine it gets packed on a bank holiday weekend!
